Following an extended period without blog activity or site updates, this post addresses the reasons behind the silence and documents significant website modifications. Maintaining transparent communication with the community remains important even when progress stalls.

Reasons for Delay

Hardware Loss — A primary development laptop was lost in early October 2021, severely limiting website maintenance capabilities. The machine contained local copies of site assets and draft content that required reconstruction from backups
Personal Circumstances — Various challenges arose during an international relocation back to the UK, including housing arrangements, administrative tasks, and establishing new routines that temporarily consumed available energy
Technical Issues — Persistent difficulties with the web hosting service created frustration and access problems. Resolving these issues required extended support interactions and eventually prompted consideration of alternative providers

Major Site Changes

Newsletter Discontinued — The newsletter proved inefficient; low subscriber acquisition failed to justify time diverted from game creation. Email marketing requires consistent effort that competes directly with development time, and the modest subscriber base did not warrant continued investment
Online Shop Removed — Print-on-demand merchandise sales remained too low to merit continued operation. The complexity of maintaining product listings, handling occasional orders, and managing customer service outweighed revenue generated
Scene News Replaced — The C64 scene news section was retired in favor of YouTube channel links, which generated better audience engagement. Video content reaches larger audiences and provides more compelling demonstration of development progress than written summaries

Parallaxian development proceeds despite these interruptions. PayPal contributions toward the project are appreciated, offering benefits such as game credits recognition, early beta access ahead of public release, and complimentary physical copies at launch for significant supporters.
