Seawolves C64: Pre-Launch Beta Testing
Pre-Release Status
Final testing phase approaching completion after months of iterative refinement. Beta feedback has been incorporated, and remaining issues are being addressed prior to public availability. The goal is releasing a polished product that requires no post-launch patches.
Testing Outcomes
Extensive compatibility verification across multiple hardware configurations has identified and resolved several edge cases:
- Hardware testing — Verified operation on original C64, C64C, and C128 (in 64 mode) units with various video chips and SID revisions
- Emulator compatibility — Confirmed correct behavior in VICE, CCS64, Hoxs64, and Frodo across Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms
- Performance optimization — Achieved consistent frame rate across all test scenarios, eliminating slowdown during intense gameplay sequences
- User interface refinements — Implemented feedback regarding menu navigation, score display positioning, and game over screen timing
Beta Tester Contributions
Special recognition to beta testers who identified subtle issues that internal testing missed. Their observations regarding torpedo timing, AI difficulty progression, and audio balance directly improved the final product.
