Seawolves Logo & Game Concept Reveal

This announces Seawolves, a Commodore 64 title being built concurrently with Parallaxian. The project functions as a market test ahead of the more ambitious Parallaxian launch, providing real-world feedback on distribution strategies and community reception while keeping development skills sharp.

Game Concept

A competitive shooting game drawing inspiration from the vintage CBM title Seawolf, which originally used paddle controllers for precise aiming. The updated version modernizes the concept with joystick support while preserving the satisfying core loop of launching torpedoes at passing vessels.

The game supports multiple play modes including solo play against AI opponents, head-to-head competition, and cooperative variants. This flexibility ensures replay value beyond the initial experience.

Technical Features

  • Shares technology with Parallaxian, particularly heavy NMI interrupt utilization for stable visual effects that maintain consistent frame timing
  • Employs wave distortion effects derived from Parallaxian’s aquatic environments, creating an underwater atmosphere through subtle screen manipulation
  • Implements custom torpedo sprite rendering methods that create convincing underwater projectile motion (specifics reserved for an upcoming video preview to maintain some surprise)
  • Water surface rendering uses character-based animation with carefully timed color cycling to simulate wave motion

The preliminary logo offers a glimpse of the intended visual direction for the game, emphasizing bold typography suitable for the naval combat theme. Further announcements forthcoming as development progresses toward release.
